A Season-Best Effort from Crew Davis Leads Iona Prep over St. Anthony's

On Friday, Iona Prep got the W thanks in part to Crew Davis playing the best football he has all season. Davis rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest reception was for an incredible 81 yards.

The win (which was Iona Prep's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Davis and Iona Prep will head out to challenge Cardinal Hayes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Gary Merrill Delivers Best Performance of Season

On Friday, St. Anthony had to settle for second even though Gary Merrill put up the best numbers he has all season. Merrill rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September of 2023.

Unfortunately for Iona Prep, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Merrill. Merrill rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes the last time he and the Gaels duked it out back in September of 2023.

Anthony Terilli Turns in Another Game with at Least Five Total Tackles

Archbishop Stepinac came up short on Sunday despite Anthony Terilli delivering his best game to date. Terilli wasn't messing around, picking up a sack and making 18 total tackles (4.0 for loss). The game was his 11th straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.

Archbishop Stepinac is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Terilli and Archbishop Stepinac will challenge St. Peter's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Guzman Made His Presence Known in Iona Prep's 48-40 Victory

Another Iona Prep player making an appearance on this list is Julian Guzman. He threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 35 yards.

For the season, Guzman has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 185.5 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.5 passing yards per game.

Teo Tsoulos Puts an End to Monsignor Farrell's Losing Streak on Saturday

Monsignor Farrell's four-game losing streak is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Teo Tsoulos. Tsoulos was unstoppable on Saturday, making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending three passes in addition to snagging two interceptions. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.5 total tackles per game.

Monsignor Farrell's win bumped their record up to 2-4. Their road trip will continue as they head out to face Fordham Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
