5A East Metro recap October 1, 2013

RJ Ramirez of Prairie View ran for the longest rushing play in 5A East Metro this season against Northglenn last week. Ramirez scampered for 95 yards on the play and finished with 179 on the day as his team beat the Norsemen.

Thornton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lincoln, 9-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Trojans.

Northglenn's dynamic duo of Art Toledo and Adam Adkins proved to be unstoppable against Prairie View, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Toledo threw for 189 yards and Adkins had 99 yards receiving. Eddie Franco helped Northglenn's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 60 yards.

Cole Barone was a passing and rushing force as Todd Riccio's team defeated Matthew Dean's team.

Barone was a beast in the backfield as the Thunderhawks bested the Norsemen.

Brighton's Tanner Pepin and Tristin Wells have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pepin has thrown for 845 yards this season, while Wells has 23 catches for 332 yards. Prairie View's Barone leads the league in rushing yards with 846.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Bulldogs' Wells goes up against Thornton's Jackson Reuter.

One of 5A East Metro's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Brighton and Mike Marquez's team face off next week.

Next week's game between Pat Sandoval's team and the Trojans will feature a good passing match up as Pepin will test his arm against Reuter's defensive ability.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Westminster takes on the Thunderhawks. At the moment, the Wolves are in third, while Prairie View is in second.

The Thunderhawks took down Northglenn 47-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Barone ran for 227 yards in the win.
