Basketball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

Southwest lost against Bertrand back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southwest Roughriders fell to the Bertrand Vikings 57-53. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thunder Nelson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bertrand, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 15 boards. The matchup was Nelson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Marcus Hernandez was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Bertrand, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Southern Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bertrand, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Overton at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
