Rabun County skates past Commerce with ease

Recap: Rabun County Wildcats vs. Commerce Tigers

The Rabun County Wildcats posted their biggest win since December 22, 2023 on Friday. They breezed by Commerce on the road to the tune of 80-51. Winning may never get old, but Rabun County sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Rabun County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Huey Blalock, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten assists. Another player making a difference was Jack Hood, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Commerce saw an underclassman step up: Tyler Sorrells scored 19 points along with three steals and two blocks. Sorrells has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Essien Lockleer, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Rabun County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Commerce, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Rabun County will be playing at home against Athens Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Commerce, they will head out on the road to square off against Tallulah Falls at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
