Basketball Recap: Charlestown Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Charlestown won the last time they faced Salem, and Anthony Fresh did his part to make sure it happened again. The Charlestown Pirates really took it to the Salem Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-30 win thanks in part to Fresh, who went 9-for-12 on his way to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Demetrius Phelps was another key player, going 7-for-10 en route to 15 points and four steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Charlestown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.7 points. As for Salem, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Coming up, Charlestown will square off against Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlestown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Southwestern likes a good challenge. As for Salem, they will face off against Crawford County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
