Basketball Recap: Monroe Beats Parkwood for Their Third Straight Win

Monroe had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Parkwood Wolf Pack by a score of 60-49. Given the Redhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Wolf Pack are ranked 463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monroe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamari Clark, who went 5 of 10 to rack up 13 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kaegan Chambers, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points.

Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Parkwood's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nehemiah Davis, who went 5 of 12 en route to 16 points along with five assists and three steals. Davis' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshaun Hamrick, who posted 12 points.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Parkwood, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-15.

Monroe has already played their next game, a 75-35 victory against Central Academy on the 11th. As for Parkwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-40 defeat against Piedmont on the 11th.
