Baseball Game Preview: Richland Royals vs. Azle Hornets

For the second straight game, Richland will face off against Azle. The Royals will be playing at home against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Richland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Azle on Tuesday. The Royals were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Hornets.

Cooper Carroll looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Richland's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 6-3 (and 6-9-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Richland got a massive performance out of LJ Allison, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The Royals are undefeated when Allison posts two or more runs, but 8-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Charger Nguyen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Richland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Azle is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10. As for Richland, the victory got them back to even at 12-12-1.
