Ponaganset and East Providence are an even 3-3-1 against one another since September of 2015, but likely not for long. The Chieftains will be playing at home against the Townies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ponaganset is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.

Ponaganset will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Scituate, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Chieftains' defense stepped up to hand the Spartans a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. Ponaganset's one-goal win came courtesy of Francesca Grenga, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, East Providence faced Middletown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Townies came out on top against the Islanders by a score of 2-0. Give East Providence's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

East Providence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those eight matches. As for Ponaganset, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10-3.
