Softball Game Preview: Citrus Hurricanes vs. Eau Gallie Commodores

The Citrus Hurricanes will head out on the road to take on the Eau Gallie Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Citrus heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tavares. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Eau Gallie had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 9-2 victory. Considering the Commodores have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabel (Izzy) Gambill was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Leah 'Spike' Pechart and Evie Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Pechart got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Martin went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Pechart a new career-high. Hannah Leech was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Eau Gallie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockledge only managed six hits.

Eau Gallie's record is now 20-6. As for Citrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
