Basketball Preview: Landmark Christian War Eagles vs. Columbia Eagles

Two dominant guards in Melody Painter and Nia Anderson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Landmark Christian War Eagles and the Columbia Eagles will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Landmark Christian comes in on four and the Eagles on seven.

On Saturday, Landmark Christian didn't have too much trouble with the Raiders on the road as they won 57-38. Given Landmark Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Raiders are ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Nikolette Soden, who scored 12 points along with five steals. She hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Painter, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Columbia can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They blew past Tucker 69-28 at home.

Landmark Christian pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Columbia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Landmark Christian ended up a good deal behind the Eagles in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 51-33. Can Landmark Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
