Soccer Recap: Briar Woods Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Briar Woods was not quite Stone Bridge's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Briar Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Stone Bridge are ranked 30th).

This is the second loss in a row for Briar Woods and nudges their season record down to 1-5-1. As for Stone Bridge, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1-1.

Briar Woods and Stone Bridge will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Falcons see the pitch they'll take on Potomac Falls at 7:15 p.m. on the 21st. As for Stone Bridge, their break will end when they face Independence at 7:00 p.m. on the 21st.
