Volleyball Recap: De La Salle Triumphs

It's playoff time, and De La Salle had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Moreau Catholic Mariners 3-2 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Mariners two weeks ago, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

De La Salle had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 16-25, 25-21, 26-24, 15-9.

Lucas Berry paced De La Salle's offense, picking up 12 kills. Berry got some help from Owen McDonagh and his 23 assists. Xavier Wirth controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

De La Salle has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-12 record this season. As for Moreau Catholic, they moved to 29-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, De La Salle will challenge Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Moreau Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
