Gibbon takes loss despite strong efforts from Emma Clark and Brooke Sell

Recap: Gibbon Buffaloes vs. Elm Creek Buffaloes

The Gibbon Buffaloes struggled with assists on Thursday (the Elm Creek Buffaloes had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gibbon took a serious blow against Elm Creek, falling 62-9. Gibbon has struggled against Elm Creek recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Brooke Sell and Emma Clark certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Sell scored three points along with four blocks, while Clark scored two points. Sell scored a full 33.3% of Gibbon's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Ashley Bauer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elm Creek, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bauer has scored at least 25% of Elm Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Mcdaniel, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

Gibbon's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Elm Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Gibbon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Arcadia/Loup City at 11:00 a.m. on December 29th. Arcadia/Loup City is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Elm Creek won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bertrand at 2:30 p.m. on December 29th. Bertrand will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Elm Creek is ranked 69th).
