Recap: Smithville Seminoles vs. Vardaman Rams
The Smithville Seminoles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took down Vardaman 51-33. For Smithville, this counts as revenge for the 53-39 defeat Vardaman walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 5th.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smithville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikayla Wall, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Wall scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Sargent, who scored 11 points along with six blocks and five rebounds.
Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Vardaman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will challenge West Lowndes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (West Lowndes is ranked 278th, while Smithville is ranked 256th). As for Vardaman, they will head out on the road to square off against Thrasher at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
