With a playoff win on the line, Capitan rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the Lordsburg Mavericks 12-2. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Cambree West, who fired off three doubles and one triple while going 4-for-4. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kailei Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
Capitan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win was the fifth in a row for Capitan, bringing their record up to 14-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lordsburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.
Capitan has already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Estancia on the 6th. Lordsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
