Soccer Game Preview: North Stanly vs. Mount Pleasant

The North Stanly Comets will head out on the road to challenge the Mount Pleasant Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

North Stanly's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past South Stanly 9-0. Considering North Stanly's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant made easy work of Albemarle on Wednesday and carried off a 5-1 win. Mount Pleasant might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Mount Pleasant and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those two contests. As for North Stanly, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-11-1.

North Stanly might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Mount Pleasant in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
