Gatesville has gone 8-2 against Robinson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Gatesville will be strutting in after a victory while Robinson will be coming in after a loss.
Gatesville will bounce into Friday's contest after beating China Spring, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 27-7 margin over the Cougars on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gatesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gehrig Keeton, who threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Keeton has posted since back in August. 121 of Keeton's passing yards were hauled in by Amos Phillips, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Robinson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 31-27 to La Vega. The game marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Gatesville will need to focus on slowing down Brice McCurdy, one of several Robinson players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 164 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 44 yards. Evan Moreno was another key back, rushing for 141 yards.
Even if they lost, Robinson's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Alex Gassaway, Aaron Ruiz, and Derrick Medlock, who each picked up one sack apiece. Cason Helpert was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble, making 13 total tackles, and defending two passes.
Gatesville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.3 points on average over those games. As for Robinson, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
Things could have been worse for Gatesville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 24-10 loss to Robinson in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
