Baseball Recap: Northwest Rankin Takes a Loss

If Northwest Rankin was feeling good fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Pearl last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell 4-1 to the Oak Grove Warriors on Tuesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Northwest Rankin got a good showing from Noah Williams, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Northwest Rankin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Saxton, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Northwest Rankin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11-1. As for Oak Grove, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4.

While Northwest Rankin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
