Baseball Game Preview: Dexter Tigers vs. Washington Academy Raiders

The Dexter Tigers will face off against the Washington Academy Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dexter is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Dexter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Bucksport. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Golden Bucks on their field since April 26, 2023.

Meanwhile, while Washington Academy put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Mount View. The Raiders put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

James Welch made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played.

In other batting news, Trevor Shimabukuro was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Jayden Mahar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Washington Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive games.

Washington Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Dexter, their record is now 13-6.
