Basketball Recap: St. Cecilia Comes Up Short

After soaring to 62 points the game before, St. Cecilia was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a 67-28 loss at the hands of the Aquinas Monarchs. While losing is never fun, the Bluehawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Monarchs are ranked 97th).

Aquinas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryant Stouffer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Stouffer has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailer Pohl, who posted 16 points and four steals.

St. Cecilia's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

St. Cecilia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Aquinas, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-49 victory against Kearney Catholic on the 25th.
