Softball Recap: Smithfield Comes Up Short

Smithfield and Jamestown squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Smithfield had to settle for second. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 8-1. The loss continues a trend for the Packers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Smithfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paightyn McCoole, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Smithfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Jamestown, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-6.

As of now, neither Smithfield nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
