While Mount Vernon's win against Prairiland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Patriots 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Jackson Gray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, CJ Clayton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ryder Bowers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Mount Vernon's record is now 14-9-1. As for Prairiland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
