Softball Game Preview: Greenup County Musketeers vs. Tates Creek Commodores

The Greenup County Musketeers will head out to take on the Tates Creek Commodores at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Greenup County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Tates Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Greenup County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Raceland on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams.

Lafayette hit Tates Creek with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Commodores came up short against the Generals, falling 9-3. The Commodores just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Tates Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Bowman, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Tates Creek's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Greenup County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 19-4.

Greenup County skirted past Tates Creek 4-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2018. Do the Musketeers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Commodores turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
