Football Recap: Batesville Takes a Loss

Batesville extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 31-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greensburg Pirates. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Greensburg's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their seven-point performance the game before.

Levi Muckerheide had a dynamite game, rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 54 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (156.3). Carson Kilgore was another key player, gaining 95 total yards and a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Batesville will challenge Franklin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greensburg, they will face off against East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
