Bothell bests Kentwood in Washington football playoffs

Lynden falls to Tumwater; State quarterfinals are this weekend.

The No. 6 Bothell Cougars (9-2) rolled to a 49-14 win to eliminate the previously unbeaten and fourth-ranked Kentwood Conquerors (10-1) in the first round of the Washington Class 4A state tournament. Luke Proulx had 245 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns for the Cougars, who will meet Bellarmine Prep of Tacoma in the quarterfinals.

TUMWATER DUMPS TWO-TIME CHAMP
The Lynden Lions (10-1) saw their 23-game winning streak come to end and their chance for a third straight Class 2A state title. The No. 3 Tumwater Thunderbirds (9-1) eliminated No. 2 Lynden 21-10 in the first round of the Class 2A state tournament.

TOP PERFORMERS
* Levonte Littlejohn, Lakes: The running back had 295 yards and three touchdowns as the Lancers beat Meadowdale in the first round of the state tournament 49-21.



* Jordan Todd, Interlake: The running back rushed for 214 yards and scored his 21st touchdown over the last four games as the Saints (4-8) advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Port Angeles 47-26.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The state football quarterfinals are this weekend. The biggest game of the weekend has No. 7 Lakes (Lakewood) (10-1) at No. 3 Camas (11-0) in the Class 3A tournament. In the Class 4A tourney No. 3 Ferris (Spokane) (11-0) heads to the Tri-Cities to play No. 5 Chiawana (Pasco) (10-0).
