Softball Recap: Frontier Falcons vs. West Central Trojans
Frontier extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-13. They came up short against the West Central Trojans, falling 15-5. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Trojans when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Addi Govert and Emmalyn Stockment stepped up to the plate in a big way. Govert went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Stockment went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Lear, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for West Central, the win got them back to even at 9-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
On West Central's side, Makylah Holle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Holle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Mellon, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Elly Sparks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Frontier and West Central are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Falcons will square off against Clinton Prairie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frontier's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gophers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for West Central, they will challenge Kouts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
