Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for St. Francis De Sales

St. Francis de Sales had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt University of Detroit Jesuit on Friday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Cubs. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Julien Coleman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Tyler Chupp was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Woycik, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory (which was St. Francis de Sales' third in a row) raised their record to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

The teams wasted no time getting back out on the field as they've already faced off again: they played to a 0-0 draw later that day.
