Basketball Game Preview: St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs vs. Elsie Allen Lobos

The St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs will face off against the Elsie Allen Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Vincent de Paul is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, St. Vincent de Paul rang in the new year with a 52-44 win over Middletown.

Jack Ellis had a dynamite game for St. Vincent de Paul, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Ellis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Chelew, who posted 13 points and five boards.

St. Vincent de Paul smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Elsie Allen suffered their closest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Calistoga by a score of 37-34.

St. Vincent de Paul's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Elsie Allen, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

St. Vincent de Paul beat Elsie Allen 44-31 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will St. Vincent de Paul repeat their success, or does Elsie Allen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
