Football Game Preview: King Vikings vs. Rye Country Day Wildcats

The King Vikings will square off against the Rye Country Day Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

King is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against The Pingry School, falling 26-0.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Rye Country Day and Hackley, and Hackley kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats lost to the Hornets on the road by a 28-12 margin on Friday. The loss put an end to the Wildcats' undefeated start to the season.

King will need to focus on slowing down Jonah Zeiden, one of several Rye Country Day players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also caught one score. Charlie Pearle also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

King's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Rye Country Day, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

King strolled past Rye Country Day in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 33-14. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
