Baseball Recap: North Schuylkill Has No Trouble Against Tri-Valley

North Schuylkill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tri-Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Spartans were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Bulldogs on Thursday. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Chase Slotcavage made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Jones, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cody Osenbach, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for North Schuylkill and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Tri-Valley, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2.

Looking ahead, North Schuylkill will head out to face off against Mount Carmel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Tri-Valley, they will be playing at home against Southern Columbia Area at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
