            Basketball Recap: Charleston Math & Science Riptide vs. Curtis Baptist Crusaders        
        
		
        
        
            Charleston Math & Science had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.6 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They strolled past the Curtis Baptist Crusaders with  points to spare, taking the game  66-50. Given the Riptide's advantage  in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states  (they are ranked 97th in South Carolina, while the Crusaders are ranked 204th in Georgia), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.

 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Charleston Math & Science to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Ben Gilliard, who  posted 23 points along with five  rebounds and three  steals. Gilliard's afternoon made it ten games in a row in which  he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Zion King, who  put up 18 points in addition to five  assists and three  steals.
 Curtis Baptist's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Brayden Husband, who  dropped  a double-double on 21 points and ten  boards. Husband has been hot, having  posted ten or more  rebounds the last seven times he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Wiltrez (Trez) Mincey, who  dropped  a double-double on 12 points and 12  rebounds.
Charleston Math & Science's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Curtis Baptist,  with the  loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.
 Charleston Math & Science wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  match,  a  76-37  defeat against Paintsville on the 28th. As for Curtis Baptist, they also  didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  56-50  loss against Palmetto Christian Academy on the 28th.
