Softball Preview: Union Mine Diamondbacks vs. El Dorado Cougars        
        
		
            
 Union Mine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will  square off against the El Dorado Cougars at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. Union Mine is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7  runs per game  this season.
 On Wednesday, Union Mine earned  a  10-5 win over Galt.
  Madison Matlack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than seven  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side, Union Mine got a  massive  performance out of  Bella Sebastian, who  went 2-for-4 with four  RBI, a  run,  and a  double. Another player making a difference was  Savannah Warman, who  scored three  runs while going 4-for-4.
 Meanwhile, El Dorado was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They fell  10-6 to Bradshaw Christian.
 El Dorado also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Taylor Gagne gave up five earned  (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 13 Ks.
 At the plate, El Dorado saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Shayla Allen, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-2.
 Even though they lost, El Dorado  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 13  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradshaw Christian only tossed eight.
 Union Mine's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for El Dorado, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
 Friday's   matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. Union Mine hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like El Dorado struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Union Mine couldn't quite finish off El Dorado in their previous matchup  last Monday and fell  11-9. Can Union Mine avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
