Basketball Recap: LaCrosse Comes Up Short

If LaCrosse was feeling good fresh off their 55-8 takedown of Chase last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The LaCrosse Leopards took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Plains Oilers on Friday. The Leopards were not able to make up for their loss to the Oilers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, LaCrosse still got an impressive performance from Madison Morgan, who posted 16 points and five boards. Morgan has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Showalter, who earned ten points.

LaCrosse's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Central Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-1.

The future could be bright for both LaCrosse and Central Plains: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. LaCrosse will try to hand Kinsley their third-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Central Plains will look to extend Ness City's five-game losing streak when the meet on Tuesday.
