Basketball Recap: Proctor's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Proctor won the last time they faced Watertown-Mayer and things went their way on Friday too. The Proctor Rails walked away with a 67-55 victory over the Watertown-Mayer Royals. Given the Rails' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Royals are ranked 166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Proctor and bumps their season record up to 12-1. As for Watertown-Mayer, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Proctor won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Zimmerman at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Proctor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Zimmerman likes a good challenge. As for Watertown-Mayer, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Grand Rapids at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Watertown-Mayer is facing Grand Rapids at the right time seeing as Grand Rapids is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
