Baseball Recap: Sterling Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sterling ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lee Ganders, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Ganders: they've now won five in a row.

David Benavides tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sterling's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rafael Romo, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Jackson Favors was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Sterling's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.

Sterling will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Ganders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
