Basketball Game Preview: Joshua Owls vs. Seguin Cougars

The Joshua Owls will square off against the Seguin Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Joshua is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Mansfield Summit just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Jaguars are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Seguin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-37 heartbreaker at the hands of Centennial. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since November 26, 2024.

Joshua's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-15. As for Seguin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-20.

Joshua strolled past Seguin when the teams last played on January 7th by a score of 54-37. Will Joshua repeat their success, or does Seguin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
