Basketball Recap: Simon Kenton's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Simon Kenton unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 61-43 to the Ryle Raiders. The Pioneers were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marty Taylor, who posted five points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Jay Bilton, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Simon Kenton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Simon Kenton's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Ryle, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Simon Kenton will challenge Walton-Verona at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Simon Kenton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season. As for Ryle, they will welcome Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
