Soccer Game Preview: North Port vs. Neumann

The North Port Bobcats will venture away from home to take on the Neumann Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

North Port fell victim to Berkeley Prep and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Buccaneers are ranked 99th).

Meanwhile, Neumann also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 2-0 to First Baptist Academy on Tuesday. Considering the last time the Celtics couldn't score was back in December of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

Neumann's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 0-1-2 and their overall record down to 1-7-2. As for North Port, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Everything went North Port's way against Neumann when the teams last played back in January of 2020, as North Port made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Port since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
