Basketball Recap: Whitman Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oakdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whitman). They snuck past Oakdale with a 70-65 victory on Friday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Oakdale are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitman got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Max Williams out in front who went 6 for 8 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Brown, who posted 21 points.

Whitman's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Oakdale, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Whitman will face off against Churchill at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Churchill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Oakdale, they will challenge North Hagerstown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Hagerstown will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Oakdale surely won't give up without a fight.
