Baseball Recap: Ursuline Sets Scoring Season-High Against Austintown-Fitch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ursuline). They came out on top against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons by a score of 9-5 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Dom Polkovitch tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, AJ Snyder was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rowan Urbach, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Ursuline's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Austintown-Fitch, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, Ursuline is taking a road trip to face off against Padua Franciscan at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last four games the Bruins have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Austintown-Fitch has already played their next matchup (against Lakeside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
