Despite the loss, Carroll saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayden Cole rushed for 228 yards and two scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Cole showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 65 yards.

Montgomery Catholic's win came from a few key players Carroll will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elijah Nunnelly, who picked up 184 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Cj Sankey was another key player, throwing for 352 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.1% of his passes.

Montgomery Catholic's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
