Baseball Game Preview: Newcastle Racers vs. Community Christian Royals

Newcastle has gone a perfect 3-0 against Community Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Racers will head out to face off against the Royals at 5:00 p.m. Newcastle will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Newcastle beat Sulphur 5-2.

Tyler Frazier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lane Seaton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Connor Leader also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Newcastle hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Community Christian won against Henryetta on Monday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Royals beat the Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. Considering the Royals have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Community Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Newcastle, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Newcastle took their win against Community Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Racers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
