Softball Recap: White County Central Bears vs. Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds

White County Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds by a score of 10-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to White County Central of the 14-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March.

Allie Schmidt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Burnsed, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

On Sloan-Hendrix's side, Kelsey Smith was incredible, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. Makenlee Vandergriff was another key contributor, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and a stolen base.

White County Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Sloan-Hendrix, their win ended a 21-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-22.

White County Central will face off against Riverview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverview knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully White County Central likes a good challenge. As for Sloan-Hendrix, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sloan-Hendrix is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
