Recap: Penns Manor Comets vs. Purchase Line Red Dragons
The Penns Manor Comets won against the Purchase Line Red Dragons last Friday with 22 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Penns Manor sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 22-19 victory over Purchase Line. Penns Manor didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Amin Lieb rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Carter Smith rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Purchase Line's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Small, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. John Elick was another key contributor, rushing for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Penns Manor's victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 5-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.6 points per game. As for Purchase Line, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Penns Manor will head out on the road to face off against Juniata Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Purchase Line, they will be playing at home against Moshannon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
