Volleyball Game Preview: Martin Warriors vs. Centennial Spartans

The Martin Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Centennial Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Martin is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Arlington just ended the team's eight-match winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Colts, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered since August 26th.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Centennial was able to grind out a solid victory over Mansfield Timberview on Friday, taking the game 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won seven in a row.

Centennial was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 11-25, 25-18, 25-16.

Martin's loss dropped their record down to 21-17. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 31-12.

Martin skirted past Centennial 3-2 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
