Baseball Recap: Reedley Takes a Loss

Reedley came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Hanford West Huskies by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Reedley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Rodriguez is becoming a predictor of the Pirates' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

Reedley dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hanford West, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-10.

While Reedley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
