Preview: Elba Bluejays vs. Ansley/Litchfield Spartans
Elba is 0-3 against Ansley/Litchfield since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Elba Bluejays will head out on the road to face off against the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Elba has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Thursday, Elba beat Franklin 27-17. The win was just what Elba needed coming off of a 47-25 defeat in their prior game.
Elba found their leader in underclassman Addison Wysocki, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Wysocki is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Ansley/Litchfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 62-19 loss at the hands of Anselmo-Merna. Ansley/Litchfield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.
Elba's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Elba might still be hurting after the 58-32 loss they got from Ansley/Litchfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Elba avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
