Baseball Recap: Lowry Takes a Loss

Lowry extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-11 in the process. They lost 15-5 to the Churchill County Greenwave. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 19, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Jakob Bauman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Connor Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

As for Churchill County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

On Churchill County's side, Zack Adams spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits. Adams has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Churchill County let Anthony Gonzalez and Nathaniel Zackery run wild. Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Zackery went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Zackery has posted since back in March. Eric Cornejo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

While Lowry had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
