Baseball Game Preview: Lumberton Panthers vs. Stringer Red Devils

The Lumberton Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Stringer Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Lumberton turned things around against Salem on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won three games by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Stringer posted their closest victory since March 22, 2025 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Sylva Bay Academy 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won eight in a row.

The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Stringer, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Lumberton came up short against Stringer in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, falling 6-2. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
