Baseball Recap: Severance Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Severance had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lutheran Lions, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Silver Knights have posted since April 16th.

Kolton Beidleman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Declan Moylett, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Severance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive contests.

Severance is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lutheran, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10.

Coming up, Severance will square off against Holy Family at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Silver Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
